There are many different normative charts you can use to determine how much you should weigh and what your ideal physique should be in relationship to your age, height, and gender.
Personally, I don’t care about ANY of those normative charts.
Rather than tying your weight and physique to a normative chart, I challenge you to think about your weight and physique in a different way.
Instead of asking what someone your age, sex, and height should weigh, ask yourself the two questions below to determine your ideal body weight and composition.
1. “What is the most restrictive diet I enjoy?”
Yes “enjoy,” and will actually eat long enough to see a change!
2. What is the most aggressive workout routine I enjoy and have time for?
The result you achieve by integrating the answers to these two questions into your life is your ideal body composition. Not some number on a chart.
Don’t determine your physique and body weight by a number, let your weight and physique be determined by actions.
The actions that you can ACTUALLY DO matter, nothing else.
Over time the actions you integrate into your life will change. You’ll level them up!
As your tastebuds change, healthier foods will began to taste better and you will eat more of them. As your palate shifts, you’ll lose the taste of many unhealthy foods and eat less of those.
Over time, you will find exercise more enjoyable. This will inspire you to carve out more time to exercise. You will become more efficient at your workout routines and improve your form, making your routines more effective.
As the stimulus levels up, your results shift too, and you’ll uncover a new “ideal” body composition.
You might even achieve a number you like far better than what you would have ever found on some silly normative chart!
Remember let your actions dictate your results, nothing else matters.
